Each of the following articles are Lewis-related but are
published here for the first time.
1. "Metaphysics"
originally written to be included in The C.S. Lewis Readers'
Encyclopedia, I enjoyed writing it and learned a lot in preparing it.
After a brief historical review of the term itself, I then wrote several
paragraphs showing how "metaphysics" relates to Lewis and his works.
I am especially proud of how I connected the term with 1) Lewis's early
metaphysical discussions with Barfield, 2) his books, Studies in Words and
Miracles, and 3) his central metaphysical argument, sehnsucht.
2. "Taking
an Untamed Lion to School" was written in June, 2001 to be
considered for presentation at the Third Biennial Frances White. Ewbanks
"C.S. Lewis and Friends" Colloquium at Taylor University in
Upland, Indiana on November 16-18, 2001. This article, as an example and
encouragement for other non-professional educators, describes how I
initiated, prepared, presented and followed-up on my Lewis presentation
to the 5th grade students at the Cumberland County Elementary School
during the 1998 centenary celebration. When it is officially published,
I will move it to another page. But since the school year is already
near, I still wanted to go ahead and put it on this web site. .
